BDAP003439808fThe latest MAIGazine, a yearly newsletter published by the Municipal Archives Interest Group of the Archives Association of Ontario, features the Brighton Barns project by the Brighton Digital Archives

We’ve written about the Brighton Barns Project in the past, and are so excited to see a more in-depth article written by the project staff. In the article, they mention how an old photograph of a barn-raising helped inspire their project to create new documentation of agricultural buildings in the area before they all disappear. It’s a wonderful story of archives begetting archives!

The next step in the project is to actively collect relevant photographs and historical information from the community – all to enrich the metadata and collections of the Brighton Digital Archives and preserve this material for the future – “a touchstone for community outreach done right.”

We’ve saved a copy of the four-page article to our VITA Toolkit help site if you’d like to skip directly to it. You can read the entire 2018 issue of MAIGazine on the AAO website.
