Highlights at this month’s Ontario Museum Association Annual Conference

In Toronto from October 24th to 26th, the Ontario Museum Association will be holding their annual conference. We’re excited to see some friends of ours presenting about a variety of heritage-related topics:

On Thursday the 25th, Irene Robillard from the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario will be joining several other presenters to discuss Bringing Women’s History into the 21st Century, including their ambitious digitization project to get the Tweedsmuir history books online across the province.

Two panels will discuss GLAM sector collaborations: one on Thursday at 2:45, and another at 3:45, the plenary, including Vickery Bowles from the Toronto Public Library and John Roberts from the Archives of Ontario.

On Friday the 26th, St. Marys Museum will talk about collaborating with local schools to provide historical education through field trips.

Other VITA partners will be giving presentations, including contributors to the 1812 History portal and the Agnes Macphail Digital Collection. We’re big fans of collaborations to make work easier and better, and are delighted to see the conference tackle such a big and important theme! Keep an eye out for our director Loren, as she’ll be attending some of the conference.
