AAO-25thLogo-Final (2).pngWe’re passing on these two opportunities – to nominate someone you know for an award, and to help the AAO build a yearly accession register so we can coordinate collections across the province.

About the AAO Awards:

The AAO Awards Committee is now accepting nominations for Awards which will be presented at the AAO conference May 9-11, 2018 in Waterloo.

Please consider nominating a colleague for the Alexander Fraser Award or the James J. Talman Award.  If you know of a Corporation or Institution that has supported or promoted archives, please check the Nomination Form to see if they meet the criteria for either of those award categories.  The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 23 by 11:59 pm.  For more information please visit the link on the AAO website.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me at mcaarchivist@gmail.com.

And about the OAAR:

The Archives Association of Ontario would like to invite each and every institution in the province that collects archival records to contribute to the 2017 edition of the Ontario Archival Accessions Register (OAAR). Just like last year, we are asking repositories to submit basic details on new accessions by completing the attached reporting form. We hope to build on last year’s pilot survey by encouraging even more institutions to participate, whether they are currently AAO members or not. The aim is to cast the net widely and capture the most comprehensive snapshot of archival collecting possible.

Please use the attached form to report material legally acquired by your institution in the calendar year 2017.  Completed forms should be directed to: chairs@aao-archivists.ca  The deadline to submit responses is Wednesday, February 28, 2018. The collected data will be made available on the AAO’s website during Archives Awareness Week in April.

Background information and FAQs on the OAAR and the Provincial Acquisition Strategy of which it forms a part can be found on the
 AAO website.
